Cooperative Education is a mode of delivery for credit courses offered in secondary schools. Students
are able to earn credits for experiences at the work site that integrate academic study and classroom with practical applications
prior to placement in the workplace.
Students are required to attend 25 hours in class for the first three weeks then 5 hours per day on every
second Friday. These sessions include health and safety training and provides students with individualized learning plans
that describe the knowledge and skills that students will practice in the workplace in order to apply and consolidate the
learning from the classroom.
A student is able to earn 4 credits in a semester, working approximately 40 hrs per week at the
placement and returning to school for one day, every other week, to earn the GWL 3O0 credit.
There is also a $35 fee for the first aid training which is a required component of the in school course.
