The English Department at Bramalea Secondary School aims to explore the relationship between reading and writing at an basic and challenging academic level. We offer courses such as: English, (Academic, Applied, Locally Developed, College, University, Workplace). The Writer's Craft (College and University), Literary Skills: Reading and Writing, Speaking Skills, Media Studies, English as a Second Language, and English Literacy Development. The courses helps students to develop skills essential to essay-writing and critical reading. An enormous amount of emphasis is also placed on practical exercise in diction, grammar, and idioms. The department has designed courses to meet the needs of English-speaking students and ESL students who require further preparation for university-level or college level reading and writing. Students are required to demonstrate an appropriate level of competency in reading and writing English.
